Economic Development

Since its inception, the Southern Iowa Council of Governments (SICOG) has served as the region’s economic development leader. SICOG is also the official Economic Development District for the region as designated by the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). The counties and local communities of the SICOG region can utilize SICOG’s economic development expertise to help meet federal and state planning requirements. SICOG can also provide individual services to local communities to facilitate additional local economic development.

Economic Development refers to the actions policymakers take to promote a healthy and sustainable local economy. Expanding the economy provides more jobs, more money in the local economy, and a higher standard of living.
