Governments Annual Meeting - Elections Held

The annual meeting of the
Southern Iowa Council of Governments and the Southern Iowa Development
Group was held on Wednesday, March 29, 2011.
Amy Lampe, outgoing
Chairperson, summarized the accomplishments from the agencies
“Annual Report 2010”. The organization completed a very
successful year with over $5,935,000 in grants coming into the area to
benefit the members of SICOG. While SICOG was very successful in
accessing money to complete very needed projects, SICOG also assisted
with over 100 planning and technical assistance projects, said Lampe.
Ted Willets, CPA, Creston, Iowa earlier in the year presented
SICOG’s financial report for FY 2010. The complete annual audit
report is available for review at the SICOG office or web site.
Mark Olive, Adams County
presented Ms. Lampe, with a plaque for her excellent work during the
meeting. Lampe said, “It has been a privilege and honor to serve
as the Chairman of the Southern Iowa Council of Governments during the
past twelve months. I certainly would be remorse if I did not
acknowledge the abilities of our small but efficient staff. This small
staff is mostly responsible for large grants and beneficial projects
being completed.” Lampe also expressed her appreciation to the
rest of the Ex. Board for their assistance throughout the year.
Mark Olive representing
Adams County on the Southern Iowa Council of Governments Executive
Board of Directors was elected chairperson for the coming year, during
the meeting held at the SICOG offices.
Others elected were J.R.
Cornett, representing Decatur County, was elected vice chairperson;
Warren Woods, representing Union County, elected treasurer; and John
Twombly, representing Adair County, will serve as the
organization’s secretary.
As SICOG chairperson,
Olive will assist the organization to promote the concept of regional
approaches to problem solving, strengthen the association's ability to
help its members, promote the association and define programs.
SICOG is a membership
organization for cities and counties within Adair, Adams, Clarke,
Decatur, Madison, Ringgold, Taylor and Union counties. SICOG serves as
the source of information for and about various program
processes and grants
that can help to develop the economic conditions of the region. SICOG
and its members help local communities and counties solve problems on
an areawide basis, whether these problems involve solid waste, other
environmental issues, transportation, economic and community
development, revolving loan funds, housing, water or sewer.
