IDED names Mt. Ayr as grant recipient for sewer improvements.

At the invitation of the Iowa Department of Economic Development (IDED), Mt. Ayr officials and representatives from the Southern Iowa Council of Governments were present as the announcement was made that the city of Lamoni was chosen as a successful applicant to receive a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) award.

. Residents of Mt. Ayr will receive $500,000 to assist in the construction of a sewer line serving an areas in the wesstern area of Mt. Ayr .

The city of Mt. Ayr submitted the CDBG application with assistance from Southern Iowa Council of Governments in Creston.

"I am thrilled that Southern Iowa Council of Governments was able to assist the city of Mt. Ayr with the application process," says Timothy Ostroski Executive Director.


" Southern Iowa Council of Governments staff has worked with a number of communities in southern Iowa on funding applications for wastewater improvements. The grant funds will allow Lt.Ayr to remedy problems at the city's water treatment system ," he explains.
